Returning to the Workplace

Good social distancing, hand sanitising and mask wearing practices are all things people look for now, when entering into any enclosed space. But something which is less obvious to the naked eye is good ventilation. No doubt, this topic will be on many people’s minds when returning to the workplace.

Recent poll results, as seen in IOSH magazine, show an increase in concerns over indoor air quality as office spaces become more occupied once again. Numerous scientific studies show good ventilation play a big part in the prevention of indoor airborne virus transmission.

Safe to say the pandemic has changed the way people look at air quality and the spread of airborne viruses, not just Coronavirus. As more employers bring staff back to the workplace from furlough or working from home, assurances on indoor air quality will be seen as important as - social distancing, hand sanitising and mask wearing.

Staff assurance

Since March 2020, more than ever before, the public have been exposed to images and news articles of airborne transmission (such as below), by main stream media outlets.

It is no wonder that staff returning to work are requiring more assurances from employers for the quality of air in the office.

Here at JCW, we have long campaigned the importance of well serviced, clean and maintained heating, ventilation and AC systems. Ventilation systems incorporating a good air filter reduce our risk of exposure to the virus, any virus, or allergen.
